Town Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting

The nice weather decided to hang around for another day, but so did Garren's cold.

Gracie and I went with neighbors Colette & Mallory to Strasburg's annual parade and left a sick daddy at home to mend. The sun was about and was beautiful, but it was mainly for show. It was quite cold! A bundled up Gracie enjoyed the parade as it marched past her spot on King Street. Her favorites were any of the people handing out candy. Besides the "sugar elves," Gracie really enjoyed the fire trucks and many horses that were in the parade this year. She also perked up when Santa Claus came down the main street on the back of an antique fire truck.

The parade lasted about 35 minutes, and then we had some time to spare before they light the town tree. Tom had joined us by then and bought several souvineers in the Dollar General while we waited and shivered. He got Gracie an adorable headband of antlers with jingle bells on them, Garren got a boxing reindeer ink pen...what will they think of next?!

We didn't have to wait too much longer before the Vice Mayor found his spot in front of the giant tree. After a few awards, it was time for the lighting countdown. Gracie let Tom hold her on his shoulders for a better view. It took a few seconds for the tree to light up, but Gracie couldn't stop talking about it all the way to the car.

It was a chilly, but very fun afternoon topped off with hot chocolate at the house. I am so glad that we went, we all had a really good time.
