Trimming The Tree

The Christmas tree is up and it smells great! It had all night to fill out, Garren has trimmed it and we are all very excited to start decorating the tree!

We invited out neighbors over to "help" trim the tree and share a meal and some treats all while watching Christmas specials. Unfortunately Tom had to work, but Colette and Mallory seemed to have a great time as we shared the evening.

After dinner we got the lights on, which if you have ever done this, you know is the hardest and sometimes comical part. I decided to use Lou's ornaments again this year for two reasons. One, because they make me feel closer to her and like we are still sharing Christmas, and two because her ornaments are child-proof.

Colette and Mallory helped us hang up the treasures which Gracie then moved about a hundred times. I guess she was looking for the perfect spot for each "toy." I took plenty of pictures and it was just a very special night. I baked some chocolate chip cookies and we watched Frosty and Rudolph as we decked the halls.

I really think that this Christmas will be a very special one. We hope all of you are find time to share Christmas activities with your families. It is so important to share these moments and continue (or start) new traditions. Christmas is such a special time of year, we should all enjoy it instead of letting it get the best of us and stress us out trying to do things we think we should. Trimming your tree with your family is far more important than trying to be sure you spend the right amount or stressing about getting something for everybody. Try to take time and enjoy the season before it is gone!
