Twas The Night Before Christmas...

...and all through the house Gracie was getting ready for bed
louder than a jingle-belled mouse.

The cookies were baked, and the milk was poured,
Time to brush teeth and get ready for Santa , oh Lord!

To bed she went with kisses and snuggled up tight,
If only we knew she would be up half the night!

Around 10 pm we heard giggling and decided to check in,
We found her covered with books and puzzles from her toy bin.

We kissed her again, and firmly said goodnight again,
Closed the door and hoped that the sound of snoring would soon begin.

By 11 we found ourselves sorely disappointed,
As our toddler was still restless and awaiting Santa's appointment.

At 11:30 in our bed she was placed by her father,
Mommy heard her stomach and served soup and cracker.

By midnight the Benadryl was starting to kick in,
And back to her big girl bed we put our little munchkin..

Santa Claus came and left his bounty, then out the door,
That must have been what woke little Gracie again 4 !

More cold medicine we gave our little sniffler,
A cuddle, clean diaper and daddy did lift her.

Back to her bed to sleep just four more hours,
Before she awoke at 8 and climbed in to ours.

2 and half more hours of kicking and snoring,
And Gracie was up and ready to face her Christmas morning!

What a long Christmas Eve night for parents and baby,
Tonight will be easier now that Santa has is gone... maybe?
