Inch By Inch

I kept singing that song as we started out little side yard garden today.  We usually have sprouts in the ground long before now, but schedules and weather seem to have constantly been a road block.  So, better late than never...right?

Daddy, the kids and I picked out just a small handful of sets to plant in our 2 bed garden this summer. Usually we fill the space to the brim with moderate results, but since we are starting so late, I think just a few veggies will be the best.

We dug, and dug, and turned the soil and made the holes and planted and watered and sweated and sweated.  Not great gardening weather--well not for this summer-whiner anyway.

But, the plants are in their beds and happy.  And, hopefully in a few weeks we will have the start to red tomatoes, hot peppers, cool cucumbers and some yummy squash.  The kids will have to wait a while longer for their snap peas as they did not have sets at the Home Depot, and we had to put in seeds.

Everyone sing...

  1. We attempted a garden this year. Jason did tomato plants last year and was successful so we tried cucumbers and broccoli from seeds this year. Jason's gardening leaves little to be desired, so we shall see if anything comes of it, ha!
