Busch Gardens With Clara (and Jacob too ;)

Gracie has been dying to go with her best friend Clara to Busch Gardens as soon as she found out her family had season passes too (it was actually Clara's mom Becky who told me about the season pass deal).

Well, school is out (Becky's a teacher) and we found a free day for the two best buddies, and their two little brothers to spend the day riding the rides.

As you know we have been many times (I think this is #6 since we got the passes), and this is the first time I packed for water play. Garren is not a fan of water rides and water fun, so this was a perfect chance for the kids to soak up all the splashing they could.

We decided to leave later in the afternoon so we could feed the kids first and not have to shell out the ridiculous amounts of money for lunch on the site.

We arrived around 3.  Let me tell you people--it was hot. And I didn't have water clothes. I did however claim one of the hand towels in the backpack as my personal "sweat towel." Lord, have mercy! It was 95 degrees and I am sure the heat index was well over 100. Plus the heat radiating from the pavement--whew!

But the kids got plenty wet and had a great time.

We ended up staying a lot later than we planned and actually didn't leave the park until 8pm.

The kids got treated to Applebees for dinner on the way home, and Becky's kids slept on the ride home.  Well, actually Clara started sleeping in the restaurant.

It was a hot, exhausting day, and a great big ole wake up call that I am way too old for many, many of the rides in this park.

It was fun though, and the kids had a blast. We plan to let them go together again, and they are already making a list of the rides they didn't get to this time that they want to tackle next time.

And as an added exciting surprise, the girls ran into their 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Joyner at the park! Can you imagine the odds?!  She was there with her two daughters, and Gracie was so excited to see her. Clara and Gracie became best friends in her class last year.
