Fourth, Fireworks & Friends
Daddy bought fireworks.
Daddy buys fireworks every year, and every year he leaves the fireworks store with a downtrodden face and the same rant that starts with "when I was a kid..." and ends with "...and we twisted the fuses together and lit them with a blow torch."
Ah the tales of Tennessee pyrotechnics.
Daddy was disappointed with what he could legally purchase today--but the kids weren't.
For the first year ever our kids sat outside and participated and didn't run screaming when daddy lit the fuses.
Could have been they are older and wiser. Could have been bravery. Or it could have been then had friends to share the evening with.
We were so pleased when Bryce and his family returned to our house this evening to do fireworks with us.
The kids took turns with sparklers and they watched excited with the fountain ones. Jason (Bryce's dad) had some more "exciting" ones he had been saving, so they got to see some bigger flashes tonight as well.
It was such fun watching the little kids--and the big "kids" ooh and ahh.
Besides the nasty mosquitoes and the humidity, I think every one walked away happy... and way past their bedtimes.
After fireworks we shared some goodies and some Popsicles and watched a few minutes of fireworks on TV in the nice air conditioning before shuffling all 4 kids to their respective beds.
A great night. A blessed day. So thankful to have been able to share it with others. Thank you Whitlocks!

So glad your family had a nice evening! Did your kids stay up until J's normal bedtime? (10:30 is her "normal," but lately it's been 11:30 or 12)
