Still Trying
Because he doesn't want to learn, doesn't mean I can't try.
School is back in session, and this fall I feel a renewed sense of attempting to teach Thomas some extra things.
Oh how I miss my "teacher time" with Gracie. She would sit and do worksheets and pages and flash cards. She and I couldn't get enough.
Trying to get Thomas to sit and listen and learn is like trying to take a turtle for a walk! Slow and painful!
But, I am still going to try.
I figure maybe some of it will somehow stick in his head when he isn't looking.
I started a list of weekly words (which I guess I can't call "weekly" since I just started this week--but the idea to keep it up is there!) and we will concentrate on 3-4 each week and add more the next. Phonics is NOT his learning style. It just isn't sinking in, but as we do these "sight" words I go through why they say what they say.
So, wish me luck. Or pray. Or both.
I have always said that one of the main reasons I stay at home is so my kids can get ahead of the game. I want them to be brighter, smarter, more talented, more compassionate, more understanding, more...everything than I ever could have been or was. I want more for them. But, not enough to scar them for life, so no need to call social services yet..I am not tying anyone down and going through Mandarin! :)
