My Wonderful Wizard
So while I was at Thomas school capturing chalk day moments and hanging out with Emmy, an MES/Stonewall parent was volunteering at the middle school.
Without planning, we were able to swap pictures of our girls! Maci is a 6th grader and a Wizard Team member at Stonewall with Gracie, and Emma is a 1st grader in Mrs. Tapper's class with Thomas.
Small world, huh?!
Anyway, I get a text today from Maci & Emma's mom with a picture of Gracie holding a certificate that she got at the last Wizard's Team "social" of the school year. They do those each 9 weeks to honor students who did well academically. I have sent in food donations, but never volunteered for clean up or set up (which is all we parents can do to get sneak peeks-- or our pre-teens will just "die of embarrassment!!" ;)
So, Maci's mom volunteered for clean up and was there and took a picture for me. Well, I just thought it was a participation certificate, but happily congratulated Gracie when she got home.
Well, no--that award is only given to 1 boy and 1 girl student each 9 weeks (so 4 times a year) for academic and overall achievement!!! How proud am I!! There are 100 Wizard team members (400+ 6th graders total among 4 teams), and she was 1 of 4 girls chosen and 1 of 8 students total! How amazing is that?!! So proud of her, and so happy that the moment was captured! And, as a coincidence, I was sure to get pictures of her Emma during chalk day that I shared before I knew about my special picture! We moms have to look out for each other.
