40 In 40
I turn 40–in 40 Days.
I am not going to lie, I’m not handling this looming milestone well.
In my heart I know I have led a good life, but my head is trying to think of things outside of changing poop diapers and wiping noses that has given greatness to the world.
Now, my children will surely give greatness to this world, and as the one who is raising them, that may be my legacy. But, when you are facing a look at the past 4 decades of your life, it can leave you scrambling for societal contributions.
As a creative personality and a devoted “list maker,” I am working on listing (thus reminding myself) accomplishments.
But, I also started thinking: what could possibly come in a group of 40 that would be good?!
Grey hairs—got them
Worries a day—do it
Dishes washed—daily
Clothes washed-daily/every other day
Miles on car—done
Hearing the word “mom!”—absolutely
Yards of fabric—
Hmmm. Now that’s what I call a good use of 40!!! So, I plan to collect 40 yards of fabric. Nothing (besides my family) makes me happier. I would love for my family and friends to help me accrue my large goal, so if you see a fabric that reminds you of me, or makes you smile, or you think might make me smile—I know I would love to add it to my collection. I plan to take pieces of each yard and make myself a quilt...to keep me warm in the old folks home.
I am also accepting all Xanax donations as well.
