I have deleted my You Tube account. I found out today from Gracie's teacher that some of the parents at Gracie's preschool were upset about their child being in Gracie's video. I didn't even think about other people even caring about my videos, or that they would be upset. There was no malice involved, but I have decided to delete my account and no longer share videos at all.
I also don't plan to take my camera to her school any more either, so I will just have to rely on what Gracie tells me happened at her school parties and other fun events.
Extremely sad about all of this.

Sad, but this is the world we live in. I didn't want to say anything, but I had a feeling this would happen sooner or later. I have to send home a photographing permission form with each of my kids. I am always sure to leave anyone that doesn't return the form out of my pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteActually, each of the kids have to sign a photo permission, but as her teacher pointed out, it didn't say anything about video. I am mostly concerned that the parents and kids will take this out on Gracie. I don't want her to be left out of birthday party invitations, or for parents and kids to freak every time they see me, thinking I am going to snap pictures and put them up for child predators. I am sad that this happened and that no one said anything to me--and that I upset anyone at all. But you know parents--I am terrified that Gracie will be blackballed because I made a simple mistake. I can see no one coming to school on her birthday next year or the school asking me not to help at her parties. Upsetting day!
ReplyDeleteno way.. what a bunch of lame parents... dont give up... just be a little more careful of whom you snap pics of.....
