Weekend With Mamaw & Papaw
Mamaw and Papaw made the 7 hour trip from Tennessee to visit *us* this summer.
We try and go to them twice a year, but it was nice to share our part of the world with them this time. They hadn't been to our house since 2010, and we have gotten a lot more comfortable around Mechanicsville and the Richmond area.
We surely hope we made them feel comfortable and welcome, but there was certainly no shortage of places to take them and things to do!
Red Robin for dinner--our favorite! They only got in a few minutes before dinner time, but we didn't waste any minutes loading them back up in the car to drive them around our neck of the woods.
Well, we took a little time, as the grands had really spoiled both children. Thomas has a new ride to call his own, and he is in heaven!
Busch Gardens. Good grief we were exhausted after this day. But, every one found the energy to enjoy Zaxby's (another favorite) in Williamsburg before the ride home, and Brusters in Mechanicsville not too long after we got back.
We needed to rest today, and we did (sort of) after a trip to the park and Bass Pro Shop (where Papaw let and watched Thomas shoot a BB Gun). Mamaw insisted on taking Gracie to get her nails done, something I never do. And then we did hot dogs over the fire pit and s'mores too. And, we celebrated Thomas' half birthday. There was plenty of sugar to go around!
We took Mamaw and Papaw to church with us. As Mamaw pointed out we are different denominations than they are, but we all pretty much believe in the same thing, it is just how we choose to worship on Sunday mornings.
I even convinced everyone to do pictures on the steps before church, and they came out great!
Garren's parents treated us to lunch at Appebee's before heading back to home to Tennessee.
It was a good visit, and we have talked about resuming our usual Thanksgiving trip down to them.
