Rolling In A New Year

Thomas went roller skating for the first time ever, and his sister got back on 8 wheels for the first time since she broke her arm doing the very same thing.

...and no one needed a cast, stitches, or even ice! Woo Hoo!

Grace was taking her kids this week as a final "before Winter Break ends" fun time, and she invited us a long.

Kelly & Dave and their two kids also came along skating as well.

My kids had a blast--and Thomas--whew! It took him 2 times around before he got the hang of it!

We started out with him and just skates, and then Bryce lent him the PVC pipe apparatus that his parents rented him (ingenious invention by the way!!) and then he was going even stronger, and faster.

Gracie's trips around the floor were not tear-free, but by the second lap she switched parents (I am apparently easier as a coach ;) and she was hands off the wall by the time we left.

Both kids had a great time and are already asking when we can go back.

Daddy and I didn't skate this time around as we had two very new-skaters and didn't want to risk more catastrophe by trying to skate and coach. But, I think they might have enough balance to let us all skate next go round. 

I'd say we would take the Whitlock's with us next time, but apparently Bryce and Emmy didn't enjoy roller skating quite as much as my kids. But, like I told Grace---we broke a bone last time, so it all works out in the "dislike" department.
